Please note: Rebate applications must be submitted from a desktop or laptop computer. Entries submitted from mobile devices cannot be processed at this time.

This rebate program is available to all Tampa Electric commercial and industrial customers. It is designed to recognize and encourage investments by customers in new or existing peak-demand shifting/reduction energy conservation measures or technologies. Both new and existing construction projects qualify for this rebate.

Many energy conservation measures and technologies are already covered by separate stand-alone Tampa Electric commercial and industrial rebate programs. If the energy conservation measure or technology is already covered by one of Tampa Electric's other rebate programs, the measure or technology cannot be funded by this program.

What is the rebate?

The rebate will be based on the peak-demand savings during the defined peak periods of 5 p.m. in August and 7 a.m. in January, Monday through Friday. The peak-demand savings are compared concurrently with the utility peak to determine the total kW reduction eligible for the rebate. The rebate amount will not exceed the amount that would make the project have a simple pay-back period of less than 2 years.

What are some examples of energy conservation measures or technologies that do qualify?

Cool roof, building envelope, refrigeration and other demand energy conservation measures or technologies not covered by other Tampa Electric-approved conservation programs.

What are some examples of energy conservation measures or technologies that do not qualify?

This would include energy conservation measures potentially in conflict with environmental regulations (CFCs, water conservation, indoor air quality), on-site generation, emergency generation and cogeneration

Additionally, equipment to which customers have made operational (behavioral) modifications is ineligible.

How do I apply?

  1. With the help of a Tampa Electric representative, you or your energy consultant are required to submit a Demand and Energy Calculations form to ComConReq@tecoenergy.com.
  2. After the form is reviewed, a Custom Energy Efficiency program application will then need to be submitted.
  3. Tampa Electric may perform an on-site pre-verification analysis.
  4. Tampa Electric will determine the rebate qualification by using the Florida Public Service Commission's cost-effectiveness test described in Rule 25-17.008, Florida Administrative Code A rebate will not be approved if the peak-demand reduction energy conservation measure or technology has a payback of less than two years or if any equipment was purchased prior to the date of issuance of the pre-qualification certificate.
  5. After 90 days of successful operation, Tampa Electric will perform measurement and verification of the peak-demand shifting/reduction energy conservation measure or technology. If the energy conservation measure or technology saves more than 50 kW during the defined peak periods of 5 p.m. in August and 7 a.m. in January, one-half of the rebate will be paid based on the actual performance as compared to the concurrent peak. The second half of the rebate will be paid after 12 months of operation based on the actual performance as compared to the concurrent peak. Some monitoring within the customer's facility, distribution, and/or control panels may be required for measurement and verification purposes.
